Theatre Production - Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead

7:30 PM to 9:00 PM - Snow 107 Black Box Theatre: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead is an absurdist, existentialist tragicomedy by Tom Stoppard, first staged at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1966. This play inventively tells the story of the bewildered Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, two minor characters from Shakespeare's Hamlet. These two clowns appear on stage when they are off-stage in Shakespeare's play with brief appearances of major characters from Hamlet. In Tom Stoppard's best-known work, this Shakespearean Laurel and Hardy finally get a chance to take the lead role, but our two heroes are lead to a tragically humorous but inevitalble end.

Symphony Orchestra

7:30 PM to 9:00 PM - SNO 136: Under the direction of Ted Ashton, the BYU-Idaho Symphony Orchestra, will present its first concert of the semester, The Beauty of the Earth. The concert will include Aaron Copland's An Outdoor Overture, Beethoven's 6th Symphony--The 'Pastorale Symphony,' and Dmitri Shostakovich's celebratory Festival Overture. Also featured will be one of the 2013 Concerto competition winners, David Clay, performing the first movement of the Cello Concerto in D minor by Edouard Lalo. "Off to See the World" Johnson Vocal Recital

7:30 PM to 8:45 PM - SNO 269: 'Off to See the World,' will be a vocal recital by Daniel Johnson, accompanied by Beverly Solomon and joined by Dallin Hansen and Ed May. Daniel Johnson's 'farewell to Rexburg' recital features three art songs from six different cultures (Italy, Spain, Germany, Russia, France, and Great Britain) performed in the original languages. 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM - Manwaring Center 220 Grand Ballroom: Latin Dance is an activity where many cultures are brought together to learn how to dance to syncopated Latin rhythms. Because of the nature of this dance, people come out of their comfort zones and learn something new. A variety of people attend Latin Dance, which allows people to be introduced to new people and experience new things.Tickets cost $1 with I-Card and $2 without I-Card.Classroom attire

Instruction is offered for the first hour; then instructors are available for individual help throughout the dance. Whether you are waltzing around the dance floor or cha-chaing with a friend, you willl have a great time. Tickets cost $1 with I-Card and $2 without I-Card. Classroom attire.

Darrell Brown Faculty Composition Recital

6:00 PM to 7:00 PM - Snow 269 Recital Hall: Music faculty member, Darrell Brown, will present an evening of new, original works--an evening of premieres--in recital. The program includes the premiere of Another Angel in the Midst of Heaven (Whirling Dervish No. 2) for unaccompanied cello, performed by Robyn Brown on the cello. The evening is also the premiere of A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings, a new song cycle for tenor accompanied by a mixed chamber ensemble including piccolo, flute, bass flute, Eb clarinet, Bb clarinet, Eb contralto clarinet, cello, and percussion (marimba, vibraphone, chimes, congas, and bass drum).
